June 21st 2025 — Event Report
On Go Skateboarding Day 2025, we took things to THE RIVERSIDE MUSEUM.
Set against the iconic backdrop, the Riverside Jam brought together skaters from across the city (and beyond) for a full day of community, creativity, and chaos in the best possible way. What started as a simple idea — get people together and skate — turned into one of the most memorable sessions of the year
The Setup
We transformed the purpose built space and made it a little more DIY. Blending street elements with a raw, open-session feel. Ledges, rails, and obstacles were designed to be skated all day, with no strict format — just energy, movement, and progression.
Redbull pulled up with the sound system and the HIGH AIR RAMP – which saw some incredibly fast riders blasting through the air.
From early afternoon, the spot filled up quickly. Locals, visiting skaters, and first-timers all showed up, creating a proper mix of styles and abilities.
Running alongside all of this was an art workshop where the people could design their own skateboard and
The Session
The jam format kept things loose. Running a skate jam at the same time as a BMX jam comes with its challenges. We had the skaters hitting one side of the park and the bikers on the other, people flying about everywhere.
The event was supposed to be held over two days – one day Skating and one day BMX, but Glasgow’s weather thought otherwise. Forcing the full GLASGOW scene out to take over the museum.
Meaning that we now had two days worth of people crammed into one, so as you can imagine it was a little bit busy. and if you have been down to Riverside, its not actually that big so it was a challenge coordinating it all. But as the session built, so did the crowd. Spectators lined the edges, hyping up tricks and feeding the atmosphere that makes events like so special.
Throughout the day, we saw:
- Heavy lines going down
- Creative use of the space that we didn’t even plan for
- £2,000 in cash handed out throughout the competition
- 3 brand new Sunday BMX bikes and lots of skateboards given out to some young kids
Community First
- Supportive, not competitive
- Open to everyone
- Driven by passion rather than pressure
From younger skaters getting their first taste of an event like this, to experienced heads holding it down, the energy stayed consistent all day.
Highlights
While the whole day was a highlight in itself, a few moments stood out:
- Giving three new bikes to young kids in the community
- Everything actually working out even after a strom
- The constant energy — no downtime, just pure madness
- Giving away so many prizes
- Seeing so many riders and skaters come together
Looking Back
Riverside Jam 2025 showed exactly what Go Skateboarding Day is about — getting people together, making use of the space around us, and celebrating skateboarding in its simplest form.
No barriers. No expectations. Just skating.
.This event was a combination of different people coming together to put on something special for the community. It couldnt have been acheived without the help and support from The Riverside Museum. Without their approval non of this would have been possible. They show a huge interest in the space and want to continue to see it grow and thirve.
Other major organisations to thank are:
Glasgow Life, Reply Skateboards, Savills, Dig BMX, BSD Forever, Redbull, Scottish Cycling, Skateboard GB
What’s Next
This was just the beginning.
We’re already looking at how we can build on this — bigger setups, bigger riders and skaters, bigger sponsors, bigger prizes, and more opportunities to bring the community together.
If you were there, you already know.
If you missed it — we’ll see you at the next one. Make sure and keep June 20th and 21st 2026 free…
